Unified command software “CommandX” for disaster response in the state of Lower Saxony

As part of her summer tour this year, Lower Saxony’s Minister of the Interior, Daniela Behrens, visited the district of Uelzen. In the modern command centers, Ms. Behrens was given a demonstration of the CommandX command software, using the 2023 flooding at Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen (Heidekreis district) as a case study. ...

Storm Nadia is battering Schleswig-Holstein

On the last weekend of January 2022, the forecasted storm “Nadia” led to a wide range of emergency responses throughout Schleswig-Holstein. Many fire departments in the state relied on CommandX and the special situations module.

In addition to fallen trees, falling roof sections, toppled

scaffolding, and banners tearing loose, storm surges also occurred along both

the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

Many fire departments in the state of Schleswig-Holstein were in

constant operation. Our CommandX special situation module was also deployed in many locations

to process operations by priority and gain an overview of the

damage events.

Municipal fire chief Volker

Arp from the Baltic Sea resort of Laboe said: “With CommandX and the

Special Situation module, it was easy for us to coordinate all the operations that came in

and process them in a targeted manner. We had a complete overview

of the operational situation at all times.” Sascha Grimlitza, platoon leader from Glinde, adds: “The

storm Nadia also brought us several calls last weekend. We

have been working successfully with CommandX for quite some time, and this time was no exception.

The operations were centrally coordinated in our fire department operations center.

For situational awareness, we also use a SMART Board, which, thanks to

its interactivity with CommandX, effectively complements our equipment.”

Itzehoe also saw an increased

number of calls over the weekend. Municipal Fire Chief Holger Klein notes: “Thanks to the

special situation module in CommandX, we were always one step ahead of the situation and always had

a clear overview of the operations, damage assessments, and the personnel

deployed.”

Whether it’s heavy rain events, other severe weather conditions, and

other large-scale damage scenarios, or even planned operations such as large

medical standby services and care situations, the sheer

number of potential response sites presents special challenges for those in charge. Operations are

created, planned, and managed.

Personnel and

resources are allocated, and required materials are recorded and documented. With the

intuitive CommandX Special Situations Module, you can switch at the touch of a button from

day-to-day operations to handling an extraordinary emergency situation.
