Social Media in Use – Basic Seminar For the first time, Eurocommand is offering basic information concerning social media. They are getting more and more important for public safety and disaster control organizations: for getting information, evaluating a situation, and to inform and warn the public. In our basic seminar, press speakers of operational staffs and other aid organizations will learn the most important facts about Twitter, Facebook, and others. Date: June 16, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Eurocommand training center in Hamburg.

Social media are becoming increasingly important for public safety and disaster control organizations: for getting information, evaluating a situation, and to inform and warn the public. In our basic seminar, press speakers of staffs and other aid organizations will learn the most important facts about Twitter, Facebook, and others.

In our basic seminar, you will learn how to correctly evaluate the risks of social   media for an operation and to take countermeasures quickly – thus optimally using the opportunities for information gathering and warning the public, and to improve your organization‘s overview of the situation.

Target group: Control center employees, press speakers of administrative districts and aid organizations, and public relations employees in crisis centers – including those with little background knowledge.

·        Different social media platforms and their significance for public relations work during ongoing                           operations

·        Numerous practical examples – from traffic accidents to terrorist attacks 

·        Special areas of application, including major events 

·        New laws and recommendations for using social media 

·        Current research results 

·        Presentation and testing of (generally free) monitoring tools 

·        VOST – Virtual network of experts

Seminar leader: Jan Müller-Tischer

In addition to working as a television journalist, I work in an excercise organizer pool and as a trainer for public relations / citizen hotlines at Schleswig-Holstein‘s state fire department school. I have been head of the information/communication department (S6) in the Stormarn district‘s disaster control team, and am a member of the Quarnstedt volunteer fire department.
